VOLUNTEERING at the Lismore Lantern Parade
The Lantern Parade works almost entirely on volunteer support.
Lantern Parade Volunteers have a really great time... we work hard, laugh a lot, learn heaps and be involved in something truly wonderful.
Here are some volunteer jobs at the Lantern Parade...
CREATIVE
- Making lanterns, masks, costumes etc
- Building large props, puppets etc
- Assisting in Community and School Workshops
- Making Little Lanterns for fundraising
WORKSHOPS
- Fire Spinning workshops are under way every wednesday from 5.30 - 7.30 for $10, all equipment and fuel supplied.
- Community lantern workshops for children (and adults!) are underway every Saturday come and make a lantern to carry in the parade.
- Large Lantern Flower making workshops begin soon.
- Mask making workshops begin soon.
PERFORMERS/PRODUCTION
- Street Theatre, pre parade & finale
- Performing in the Finale
- Production & back stage support
- Ushers & VIP Hosting
- Set-up, Showtime & Pack-up
MARKETING & PROMOTION
- Attending local markets, promo activity
- Poster and flyer distribution
- Assisting with Surveys etc (training provided)
THE PARADE
- Assist with pre-event Parade Logistics
- Bucketeers/Safety Officers
- Lanterneers (carrying lanterns)
- Crowd Control
- Parade 'runners'
- Join the Parade Bands or Carnival Dancers
- Create your own Parade Band or Peformance Group
- AND LOTS MORE...
ADMINISTRATION
- Funding, Sponsorship, Marketing, etc.
- Data input, phone, filing, letters, errands etc
