2008 sees the Lismore Lantern Parade celebrate 14 years of lighting the heart of the city….
To celebrate, the Lismore Lantern Parade, The Northern Rivers Echo and Lismore Promotion Program are delighted to extend a warm invitation to Lismore businesses to decorate their premises with lovely Lismore Lanterns or designs of your own design choice!!
The 2007 CBD Lantern Project attracted fantastic response, especially from the general public, and as the lantern parade has now successfully captured the hearts of the community we are sure that lantern lit and decorated windows will continue to be a great hit with customers and clients and link the whole community within this wonderful event.

Lismore Lantern Parade receives funding boost from
Newcastle Permanent.
Lismore Lantern Parade Artistic Director, Jyllie Jackson, has announced Newcastle Permanent as a new major sponsor for the 2008 Lismore Lantern Parade.
“We are thrilled to have the financial support of Newcastle Permanent for this year’s Parade,” said Ms Jackson. “Newcastle Permanent is opening a branch in Lismore soon and their support shows they are embracing the Festival’s aims of fostering supportive relationships between the community and business.”
Newcastle Permanent CEO, Stephen Porges, said; “We recognise the Lantern Parade is one of the most significant community events for Lismore. It engages the community which reflects the ethos of Newcastle Permanent that has been providing regional, community-based financial services for the last 100 years. For this reason it’s an event we are very proud to support.
This year’s parade theme, ‘Awakening,’ is a nice synergy with Newcastle Permanent’s move into the region. I know our staff members are excited about being involved in the Parade,” added Mr Porges.
Newcastle will open new branches in Lismore and Ballina during July, with another branch planned for Byron Bay later in the year. These new branches will compliment the existing network of more than 50 branches in the Mid North Coast including Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie, Taree and Forster, the New England region, the Central Coast and the Hunter.
“When Newcastle Permanent approached us about sponsorship, they showed great enthusiasm and commitment to the Lantern Parade, we hope this will be friendship which builds on strength over years to come,” said Ms Jackson.
The Lismore Lantern Parade will be held on the shortest day of the year, the Winter Solstice, Saturday, 21 June.
