about lismore

Tucked away in the far north eastern pocket of NSW, Lismore is at the heart of the Rainbow Region, an area renowned for its extraordinary natural beauty, amazing cultural diversity, relaxed lifestyles and quirky charms; a place where old school blends with new age and nature sets the pace.

At the southern rim of the ancient Mount Warning (Wollumbin) shield volcano, the rolling green hills are dotted with quaint villages, neat rows of macadamia and coffee and hidden valleys enshrouded with mystical rainforesy. The aboriginal people of this area are the Widjabul. This country is sacred to them and we urge you to respect their land, culture and beliefs.

For a comprehensive guide of Lismore and its villages or just to find out more information, you cannot go past contacting the award winning Lismore Visitor Information Centre. Its much more than a visitor centre - its an experience in itself!

As Lismore is the doorstep to spectacular rainforest, the centre features an indoor rainforest. It has a waterfall, videos and models of native flora and fauna and displays telling the story of the sometimes controversial history of some of the rainforest areas.

The centre has an extensive range of local arts, crafts and produce, and is committed to supporting the local producers in the Northern Rivers Region. The centre is located in Heritage Park, which features a Tiny Tots Adventure Park with swings, rides and a miniature train. Also a skate ramp, BBQs and picnic tables and toilets are located on this site.
